Located just southwest of downtown, Boylan Heights enjoys a wonderful view of the Raleigh skyline.  This neighborhood is sited on what was the plantation of William Montfort Boylan.  His residence was Montfort Hall, an antebellum mansion built in 1858 which is still part of the neighborhood.

Montfort Hall and it's surrounding acreage were acquired for subdivision in 1907.  The development proved to be very popular.  Boylan Heights saw about 60 homes built in the first 7 years.  Most of the homes date from the 1910's and 1920's. The chief architectural ingredient is the bungalow.  Boylan Heights was the first Raleigh neighborhood with curvilinear streets.

A new source of pride for the neighborhood is Project Enlightenment which is located in the old Boylan Springs Elementary School.  Learn more about Project Enlightenment with the link below.

An artistic and fun loving community, Boylan Heights is a great place to live.  Check out their halloween pumpkin lineup on Boylan Avenue Bridge and the annual Art Walk in December.  Don't forget summertime's Big Boylan Bash.
